General Information

Welcome To The Blue Moose Bed & Biscuit!

Our goal is to provide your pet with a safe and happy environment during his or her time away from you. You can help us meet this objective by taking a few minutes to read this and become familiar with the procedures we use for all of our animals, in order to ensure the best possible temporary home for your pet.

  • All dogs must have current DA2PP, RABIES, and BORDETELLA vaccinations given within the last 12 months. Should your dog’s shots expire while in our care, you will be responsible for any vet and transportation fees incurred by our facility.
  • When you first come to The Blue Moose Bed & Biscuit, we will ask you several questions about your animal. This may take a few minutes, but it is necessary for us to give the best possible care to your pet. We will inquire about your animal’s health, vaccinations, behavior, and special needs. We do not do this just for your animal, we inquire about every animal that comes to The Blue Moose Bed & Biscuit in order to minimize problems with animal socialization. We will also ask the name of your veterinarian so that we can verify health records and have a contact in case of emergencies. We know that you will understand that we must do this with every pet owner to make certain that your animal and all the other animals remain happy and healthy.
  • We feed the dogs twice daily, once in the morning and once at night. To help ensure a relaxed environment during mealtimes, we feed everyone in their crates. Please send food and any medications that your pet may need during their stay with us, and we’ll be happy to administer the medications as needed.
  • Generally, we try to keep the dogs on a daily schedule, which includes both morning and afternoon play sessions, with a nice long nap in-between. All the play areas have fresh water, and we can see the play and sleeping areas from our office. We clean up all areas, both inside and out, throughout the day. Each night, the dogs get a nightly treat before bedtime, and they have a nightlight and soft music to help them go to sleep.
  • Any time that dogs are grouped together, there is a chance of some dogs not getting along. Should this occur, we separate the dogs into different play groups, which will generally alleviate the problem. Should a fight, occur, the dogs will be kenneled to allow them to settle down, then re-introduced slowly to each other. Generally, we expect very few discipline problems with the dogs as they typically get along well with each other in their owner’s absence.
  • Because we run this business out of our home, it allows us a lot of flexibility with our hours. However, it’s best for the dogs if they remain on a daily schedule. Mon.-Fri. we begin accepting dogs around 6:30am, and around 8:00am on the weekends. We like to crate our overnight guests around 9:00pm, so we like all dogs picked up for the night before that. But, this is Alaska, and we understand road conditions, fishing trips, and “the Anchorage run,” so we can be flexible. Above all, we want you to be safe in your travels, so please just call us if you are going to be delayed for any reason.
  • Feel free to call during the day to inquire about your pet. We will call you if any problems or questions arise so please leave all of your contact numbers. We want this to be a great experience for both you and your pet, so if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, please let us know. Our goal is 100% happy pet owners and 100% happy pets!
