Testimonial from Lucy the Brave and Mike and Bette Gilliland 9-19-2009

A week before we were to leave on vacation for two weeks, one of our cats, Lucy, came home with injuries after being gone for a full five days. Two surgeries later and a cast on a broken hind leg, she was going to require a bit more attention than our house sitter would be able to provide. Thankfully Ellen, Mike and Austin of the Blue Moose Bed and Biscuit came to her rescue. They set her up in a bright sunny room with the other guests, all dogs, and took care of her day and night. Mike and I felt very relieved to have her there and we didn’t have to worry about how she was doing. They would call us and keep us updated on how Lucy was doing. They took her to the doctor for a check up, made sure she received any medications she required and she loved it as evidenced by her steady and complete recovery.

I have been to the Blue Moose Bed and Biscuit several times and am very impressed with how they treat their guests. The atmosphere is warm and happy; the place has a good feeling. Ellen, Mike and Austin put their hearts into caring for each and every guest that come through their door. From now on when we need to kennel one of our pets, the Blue Moose Bed and Biscuit will be where we go, no questions asked.

Dear Mike & Ellen,

We are thrilled to finally have a doggy day care that is locally based, which is a safe environment and family friendly for our very much loved two dogs, Murray and Ally, which are family to us. I wasn’t sure how our dogs would react to being away from their home and in a new environment without us being around. But they adapted very quickly and seemed to enjoy being there and learning to be around other dogs. We really appreciated your love and care for both Murray and Ally and making them very comfortable in their kennel, which was another new experience for them. We really liked that you took the time to take them for a walk everyday and play catch and interact with them. Thanks for calling me a couple of times to ease my concern on how they were doing after we left them.

I travel a fair amount both for business and pleasure. After moving to Soldotna almost 2 years ago I struggled with finding good care for my dogs while I was away. My dogs are my children and I have always worried about them, constantly checking in to be sure they were ok. Finding the Blue Moose Bed and Biscuit was a life saver for me. I can now leave knowing the kids are in good hands, they actually look forward to being boarded. It really is more like a camp for them-they go on walks and play with other four legged friends.

I'll never take my dog anywhere else. During a family emergency in 2009, I called Blue Moose to see if they could take my dog. They not only were able to take "Blue", but they came to the hospital and then kept him for the next two weeks. Blue enjoyed himself so much he didn't want to come home. Great people with an outstanding service and reputation.

Last year my family went on vacation for a week and lucky for us we found the Blue moose bed and biscuit. I was very impressed with their method of letting the dogs range free within their fenced in area during the day and then putting them in kennels for the night. I don't trust just anyone with my four legged son but I wouldn't hesitate to leave him in their care again. The only problem you may have is getting your dog to come home with you. Great people and great service.

The two of us like going to the Blue Moose a lot. Our human drives too slowly down the Hallelujah Trail so we howl and jump around the back seat to make him go faster. When we get there, he takes too long opening the car doors so we bark and bark and bark then drag him really fast with our leash so we can go play with our friends.

My dog Rascal thinks this is a very fun place to be. Ellen makes all the pets feel that they are her special ONE! Ellen also helped to care for Rascal after another dog here in Seward had attacked her and she was seriously injured. Rascal has a real bond with her and her pet center/doggy day care!
